"Michael Forcier, Tate Forcier's father, said he was disappointed that [Dave] Brandon said what he did.
'He could've used different words, but the new sheriff sent the media into a frenzy,' Michael Forcier said last week. "Tate didn't flunk out, but he had two incomplete grades. If he was given a chance by at least one professor to make up the work and get a grade, he would be eligible.'"
So i read this post on espn.com the other day and was infuriated. how can a father defend his kid for not putting being able to put in the grades?! here's my thing... i understand that it's difficult to be a student athlete and the professor is basically jeopardizing what may be his professional career by not letting him play in the bowl game... but... COME ON! as a student athlete coming into michigan, or any other DI university for that matter, you are accepting the responsibilities to become a student athlete and to be a part of the university, not just the athletic program. You are accepting that you must meet the requirements in the classroom as well as the requirements of your sport. i'm not saying that it will be easy or that people just don't understand, i personally cannot even begin to imagine what it must be like to have so many people pulling you in different ways. HOWEVER... you have the help of advisors and peer advisors and professors and coaches to help you succeed the best way you can. there is no excuse for someone to not be able to pass a class. DO NOT blame the professors for not allowing him to make up work. I cannot imagine any professor at the UofM who would not have given him a single chance. if you knew the professor was a stickler on late work, then dont turn in late work... that simple!! i just cannot believe tate's dad is backing this kid up on not finishing his school work... really??? my goodness gracious.
